After seeing four in a bed and this vile nasty weird couple I’m surprised they still have a campsite. I have taken the... time to read the feed back left by people who have stayed here and it does appear that the person shown on tv is exactly the same to certain people he feels are beneath him. Certain areas people live. Gender etc. I would never stay here and hopefully thanks to Channel4 keep showing it on repeat more people will not stay here too. This man is a nasty old dinosaur and look what happened to them. Don’t waste your money lots more lovely nicer places to stay In the uk with better scenery and locations look elsewhereread more
From all these 1 star reviews that i have read are from people who have only watched four in a bed. Having recently... stayed at the site i can say it is a very peaceful and friendly site. The pod was tidy an clean. The food was very nice. Very clean facilities. We had everything we needed in the pod and was topped up when needed. Hand sannitiser was provided as well as soap. The owners were very lovely and helpful. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend xread more
Had a really nice stay at Smithson Farm. The hosts were lovely and helpful, the site was clean and well cared for, the... lodge we stayed in was well supplied and comfortable, didn't get the food but it smelled great! Bear in mind that even in a pod or lodge, this is more like camping than like a chalet stay, as due to planning constraints they are not allowed to set up running water to the pods or lodges (come on though planning guys, honestly what negative impact Is it going to have??) so all washing has to be done at the shower block. If you're OK with camping, though, this is a great place for you. Big learning point for us was how absolutely lovely turkeys are as there are free-range turkeys (as well as chickens) roaming the site. Recommend for a chilled-out time.read more
I have just returned from Smithson Farm with my little boy after spending two weeks there in my caravan. Originally we... were only going for five days but decided to extend our stay as we loved it so much! (We've also booked to go back again in two weeks!)The owners, Harry and Carole, along with Keith and Debbie who work there, are wonderful people. You would be hard pressed to find anywhere with a warmer welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they work hard to make the site as fabulous as it is.The site is really peaceful with beautiful views of the Lancashire hills. The breakfast in the cafe is faultless (and definitely fills your belly!) The mining museum is quirky, full of character, informative and interesting and it's clear that a lot of hard work has gone into making it what it is.The showers and toilets are always spotlessly clean, the grounds of the site are really well kept and the beautiful flowers are well cared for.My little boy especially loved the turkeys, chickens, ponies, parrots and dogs!Honestly, I can't recommend this place highly enough! Only just home and already missing it. Can't wait to go back in two weeks!read more

I enjoy camping and have stayed at numerous sites. But was shocked after watching Four in a Bed a unisex shower block!... No way would make me feel uncomfortable. Also what horrifying comments about women in tight jeans. And having to use hand gels to wash hands no thanks.read more
Would of liked to have stayed here, but I also like to wear tight jeans! and don't like the thought of old harry... checking me out in the unisex showers! Also £110 per night, two night minimum stay, with no running water in your accommodation? Rather stay in the premier Inn down the road for £29 quid a nightread more
Having watched the programme 'Four in a Bed', I think that the mixed showers are for the owner's benefits. Making... comments about women's tight jeans, you can see where his eyes were looking.read more

Very peaceful, very clean camp site, very friendly people who own and run it good facilities+the mining museum on... site.Cafe prices very good, food good, damn fine pot of tea.Dogs welcome, take some carrots with you as there are 3 beautiful little ponies in the paddock who will come trotting over to you if you shake the bag of carrots.(Make sure the white one gets some as he's a bit smaller than the 2 brown ones who tend to bully him a bit).Well worth a visit to stay for a few days or just for a few hours for drinks and food, have a trip there and check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.read more

More than a farm offering excellent Campsite facilities, including Hot shower and WCs, its better kept secret is its... immensely interesting Coal Mining Museum, commemorating a yesteryear when an active coal mine was on the site.
