The owner Harry attempted to evict my daughter, son in law and two small children from the site at 9pm at night because... he had ordered them to put their fire pit out and they refused on the basis that most of the other campers had fire pits, also,my son in law had had a bottle of beer and would never drive after alcohol. Harry called the police!!! The police came and could see there were no grounds for his behaviour and were absolutely fantastic trying to cheer up the little ones as they were so upset. In the end my son in law asked the police to breathalyse him to ensure he was safe to do the hour drive home at 10 in the night (came out as zero) as they were just too uncomfortable to stay. This is a respectable family, treated like dirt. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE AS THE OWNER IS NUTS.read more

Great. Harry and carol were very good hosts. All the staff are great and work hard and have time for the customers.... Harry even brought the pony down for the kids. The onsite cafe and food is very good and reasonably priced. 6 adults and 7 kids in our group plus other customer's eating and the staff coped really well. Breakfast can be full English to pancakes. With fruit and cereal available. Supermarkets 10 mins away as are takeaways but try the fish and chips on site first. Showers, toilets clean and adequate. The whole site is clean and well maintained. Kids are safe and plenty of room to play. We all enjoyed our stay and would return. I definitely recommend. The pods etc looked really good. We camped. Elec hookups but you can get a brew anytime from the cafe.read more

Very peaceful, very clean camp site, very friendly people who own and run it good facilities+the mining museum on... site.Cafe prices very good, food good, damn fine pot of tea.Dogs welcome, take some carrots with you as there are 3 beautiful little ponies in the paddock who will come trotting over to you if you shake the bag of carrots.(Make sure the white one gets some as he's a bit smaller than the 2 brown ones who tend to bully him a bit).Well worth a visit to stay for a few days or just for a few hours for drinks and food, have a trip there and check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.read more

More than a farm offering excellent Campsite facilities, including Hot shower and WCs, its better kept secret is its... immensely interesting Coal Mining Museum, commemorating a yesteryear when an active coal mine was on the site. Harry and Carol will make you very welcome and if your partial to afternoon tea with homemade jams and locally harvested honey, you'll love it here.read more
